Dealing With Food Waste

New figures show about a third of food grown for human consumption in the UK ends up being thrown away*. What can be done to reduce this excessive waste?

Food Waste is a problem, and dealing with it is becoming part of the DEFRA strict policy on organic waste and landfill.

Currently there are laws on how you handle your waste, but soon there will be even stricter laws on how you dispose of it. We have set up this facility to help you pre empt this legislation, and have in place the systems needed way before any sort of enforcement takes place.

The good news is that not only will you be saving the Welsh, UK and world environment by reducing landfill, not only will you be able to be proud of your contribution to recycling in providing composted fertiliser and soil, but you will also not be paying anything extra for the service, as our facilities are on a par with traditional landfill.

Everyone Wins

Recycling campaigner Georgina Bloomfield said:

"We do need more collections of food waste - partly to deal with the amount of general waste that we have, and also to comply with an EU directive to divert bio-degradable waste from landfill sites."
